This year's Halloween was the first time I had created a costume since...well, I can't even remember. Our friends had a Murder Mystery Party and all of us came dressed as crazy, creepy monsters. There was a murder that occured, but I did not die and I did not kill anyone. I did however, have a great motive to kill, but didn't have the guts to go through with it. My friend in the picture wasn't so lucky - she was the one that was murdered. The crazy wolf monster did it! Way fun night. Check out some of the other pictures below.

Feeling Childish
So, after a long weekend at church, one would say I was a little tired tonight. With being tired also comes irritability, grumpiness, short fuses...you get the picture. If you know me at all, you know that I wear my heart and my emotions on my sleeve. Tonight was no different.
Max and I went to one of our favorite local pizza joints to get a bite to eat for dinner. Sadly enough, there is no food in the house to be had at the moment. After putting in our order, Max scouted out a semi-private booth for us to enjoy our dinner semi-quietly. No less than 10 seconds after sitting down, the lovely child behind us starts walking around on the seat of the booth. Yes, her side of the booth and my side were connected. Yes, the booth was broken and every time she moved, it would shift like a teeter-totter. Thus, began the darting looks across the table to Max where I said with my eyes, "Are you serious?" He quickly asked me if I wanted to switch seats with him (good man that he is). I decided, I would grin and bear it. Big mistake. This went on for another 5 minutes until that family left. Finally. A sigh of relief. We get our pizza and I enjoy the yummy goodness.
Looking around and seeing the restaurant practically empty. I think to myself that I may possibly make it through the rest of the evening without having another teeter-totter fiasco.
(Cue large group of people walking in the door....loudly.)
(Cue family and inconsiderate mother)
(Cue the teeter-totter).
Seriously. They had the entire restaurant to choose from and they chose to sit in the broken booth directly behind me. Did I have a sign above my head saying "Annoy Me"?
(Cue eye roll to Max)
(Cue take home box)
(Cue me scooting out of the booth and moving around as much as possible, hoping to make her realize how annoying it was.) Childish...yes. :)
As I leave the restaurant, I turn to Max and confess my childish actions. He turns to me and says, "But I bet it felt pretty great to get her back, huh?"
(Cue us laughing hysterically in the parking lot as we walk away with our pizza)
(Cue curtain)
Somedays it's just plain ole fun to act like a kid!

OOZED at Camp
That's me getting OOZED at camp this past week. Our theme this year is "OOZE Cruise" - where we are cruising through Paul's missionary journeys...sailing the "7 Cs". It is pretty cool. I had a blast during Week #1. I thought I would make it the whole week without being OOZED. It was up to the kids to nominate leaders to be oozed. Every morning they would get nomination slips and each camper would nominate a leader of their choice. Then, all the slips went into a bucket. We would spin the bucket and choose 8 names. Those 8 names would get 8 different colored hats. The different colored hats represented the 8 colors on the wheel. We would spin the wheel and whatever color it landed on was the person who got oozed. If your name was drawn more than once, then you got multiple hats. Wednesday at lunch I ended up wearing 5 different hats. The entire boys dorm ganged up on me and every single boy at the camp voted for me. Lovely little boogers. Needless to say, the odds were in my favor and I got OOZED in the OOZINATOR! It was slimy, chunky & cold. Yummy! Pistachio pudding...slightly watered down. I don't think I'll ever eat pistachio pudding again after this year's camp. :)
On a brighter note...15 kids gave their life to Christ by the end of the week!! 10 were baptized at camp and 5 will soon follow at church. Amazing week!

Has it been 10 years already?
So, out of the 3 Mitchell kids...I always voted John "most likely to go to his 10-High School Reunion". And so far, my calculations are correct. He was always the social butterfly, involved in every possible extra curricular activity and every sport imaginable. And somehow he managed to land a date to almost every formal dance during High School - even as a freshman! Unbelievable. Matt and I would make fun of him, but deep down, we were just jealous that we weren't as cool. :) I made it to 2 dances in all my 4 years of High School. Senior Homecoming and Senior Prom. Both dates sucked. But I wanted to say that I went...so I went. Oh wait...don't forget the Junior/Senior Reception. That was was a winner too. Somebody should have given my date a mint. Haha!
The invitation came a couple months ago. I read it. Max asked if we were going. Thought about it for two seconds and said no. It really is sad. All those years of my life and I could only care to speak to a few people from High School. And those are mostly friends from the youth group. They were the ones I grew up with and they were the most genuine people I knew.
I think it funny to watch "teen movies" now. They stereotype the "jocks", the "popular girls", the "geeks", and the "band kids" in those movies and although they exaggerate a bit...it is not too far off from real life High School life. Sad, but true. You do have the "weirdy-mc-weirdees", the "jerks" and the "mean girls". I tried to stay under the radar as much as possible, but if you had to label me...I probably was a band kid. That is where I spent most of my time. Music was my life and I loved it. Serves me great in my job now. :)
My husband is the opposite of me. He LOVED High School and would go back in a heart beat. Of course, he was the Captain of the football team, wrestling champ, choir, show choir, clubs, honors, had a date to every dance....wait a second...I'm thinking John and Max are a little too similar! :) He can't wait for his HS reunion, where as me...I lived vicariously through Ang's pictures on facebook. I'm pathetic. I wouldn't know what to say to these people. In my dream world, I would rent an expensive car, pretend to work a ridiculously awesome career, and get a makeover that day to impress people. I would flaunt my good-looking husband in front of all my "crushes" who passed me over during my "ugly duckling" phase. haha
But when it all comes down to it. I love my life now. I love how God has worked through my heart over the years. He taught me how to work through some tough situations in my HS years. Friendship. Loyalty. Faithfulness. Heartbreak. Hurt. Frustration. Loneliness. Worthiness. Respect for myself. Direction. And the list goes on. I wouldn't trade my life for anything...well, somedays I think about how I could have done things differently, but other than that...I'm pretty happy.
I'm happy for those who had a great HS season in their life...like my husband and my brother. I hope that they can share with me their secrets of making the most of that time in their life. I'm sure the fact that they were both "ladies men" helped them get through just nicely. :) But to all of you still in HS - enjoy it as much as you can. Make the most of each opportunity. Make good friends. Laugh alot and don't worry about what people think of you. Stay away from alcohol and drugs. Get involved in extra curricular activities and find out what where you are gifted. Study hard and respect your teachers. And maybe...just maybe....when your 10-year HS reunion invitation comes around, you may think a little longer than 2 seconds before saying no.
This bitter bug is done now. :)

Closer to Debt Free Living
Max shared the news with me yesterday that we are one step closer to being out of debt completely!! This month we will have paid off ALL of our credit card debt!! I can hardly believe it. The Lord is blessing our efforts and we just keep "rolling". Dave Ramsey does know what he is talking about with all that financial stuff! I must admit it hurt a little to live on a budget at first, but that envelope system has saved my life...or at least my bank account. :)
So keep praying for us. The biggest elephant is ahead - school loans!! Yikes!

Tag I'm It
See Madonna...I'm a good friend. Just horrible at keeping up on the blog. :) Thanks for giving me a reason to post.
My Joys:
1- Spending QT with my husband & my friends
2- My nephew, Carter and my new niece, Claire
3- Knowing I am exactly where God wants me right now and ministering in ways I never thought possible.
My Fears:
1- Failure
2- Being left alone and intruders
3- Spiders dangling from the ceiling in the middle of the night above my bed (true story)
My Goals:
1- To raise a family someday
2- Go on mission trips to Europe, Asia and Africa and make it to Israel someday
3- To go to New York and go to the Today Show
My Current Obsessions/Collections:
1- Rice Krispy Treats and Barq's Root Beer
2- Getting in shape (I don't think the first obsession helps in this area)
3- Wanting to buy a Toyota RAV4 - they are just too cool.
Random Surprising Facts About Me:
1- I can burp with the best of them (although not surprising to those who are around me all the time)
2- I've never broken a bone in my body (now watch...I just jinxed myself)
3- I've watched every episode of Saved By the Bell numerous times and am recently NetFlixing all the seasons to rewatch them again. I've been able to tell you what each episode is about just by looking at the title of the episodes in the menu.

Trip Home
It has been awhile since the last update, but I am going back to my roots this weekend for a little break. Q-town is calling me home for a dear friends wedding. Much anticipated event. Been waiting to meet this prince charming since we were kids and I'm thankful my sweet friend was blessed with an amazing man. I pray God's blessing over the weekend.
Get to see family - which is always a plus. John and Sha celebrated 2 years of marriage yesterday...holy cow! Has it been that long? Sha will be performing some serious work on my "doo" Friday. Been planning to do something I've never done before...go brunette! Or at least non-blonde for awhile. Probably will do some 'shaping up' of the hair too. So I may look like a different person come Friday evening. Even if you don't like it...please don't say anything. I will need nothing but positive reinforcement after I get it done. So any kind of reassurance will be appreciated. :)
Well, off again for awhile. See you on the flip side!
by the way...have you checked out our wedding dance on youtube lately? Seriously. Over 52,000 hits...unbelievable!!

Updates
Since I've been pathetic at posting recently, I thought I would give you some highlights of what's been happening in my life and in the lives of people around me...
1. Max has been gone to Israel - the Holy Lands - for the past two weeks. He is over there for "fun", not Army stuff yet...just in case you were wondering. He returns tomorrow evening (late), but it will finally be good to have him back.
2. Mom's ( & grandma's) birthday is today. I won't tell you how old they are, but I will tell you that time sure flies...but they still don't look their age. :) young at heart!
3. The Chicago Mitchells are doing good and still planning to have a baby in June. Still don't know if I will have a niece or a nephew, but I'm positive I will love whatever comes out! They will be heading home to Q-town for Easter, but I won't be...so I will have to settle for seeing them in April when I am in Chi-town for a conference.
4. The Quincy Mitchells are planning a trip out to see us next weekend. They will be caravaning out with a group from MPCC for the Easter Pageant which we will all see together Friday evening. If you haven't checked out the trailor for it, go to www.southeastchristian.com and click on Easter Pageant. We will also be heading to the Creation Museum nearby. But most of all, I'm just glad they are coming. I miss their faces and John's laugh for sure. He is my goofball brother, but I love him.
5. Have I mentioned that we have 6 Easter services this year. Thankfully, I have a boss that has split our responsibilities for the weekend. We have a Saturday team & a Sunday team. I will actually get to just "go to church" on Easter Sunday. That's pretty remarkable! Thanks Steve!
6. My friend, Karla, has come out of the land of "typhoid" and into the land of the living again. It's good to have her back. She has also inherited a dog for a month or at least a couple weeks. This may give her the "dog fever" again and inspire her to get her own pup. Or...it could completely do the opposite. We will wait and see.
7. My car is on the fritz. Yep, that's right. It's paid off...so now it is time to start pouring $ down the drain to keep her fit and trim. I think there is some kind of ticking time bomb that at 5 years a switch goes off...and your car starts to fall apart. Anybody with me?
8. I've developed allergies. I now have to take Claritin and Flonase everyday. Sorry Matt...I never understood your pain. I hate the Ohio Valley.
9. We got a new neighbor above us. I never knew how good we had it before he moved in. He is a heavy walker. Good grief...is his name Shrek?
10. We finally got some sunshine today - PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY! I think I can count the # of sunshine days on one hand that we have had this year. Truly thankful my Lord!
11. Thankful my buddy Ret got her puppy finally. Really cute! Can't wait to meet her.
Welp, there are your updates. Have a blessed Easter weekend! I will see you on the flip side.

American Idol
I am continually amazed by this show. More so by the people who are on it, really. Some have touching stories. Some have really, well, "interesting" stories. Some are genuine. And I think some are just simply on crack. Few...very few are really talented. But yet I continue to watch this show, almost religiously, to see what people in this world think they have true talent...talent enough to win this competition.
What I really want to know is, who is telling them they actually possess the gift of singing...seriously? I believe in being honest with others and I would hope people would treat me with the same respect. But I love to watch this stinkin show. It is hilarious....well, at least the first few ones are hilarious. Then, after that, I usually just want to see my favs win.
Some seasons have been better than others. Hopefully this year will rank high on the list. But I'll keep watching....as I always do!

Back to Life...Back to Reality
So, we've made it back from our honeymoon and are living it up in our new apartment. Honeymoon was great and all, but there's something about sleeping in your own bed again that makes life so much better. Especially after the "ontinental ne" hotel we stayed at in Miami. :) We had a great time at Disney in Orlando and then an even better time on our first cruise to the Bahamas! We enjoyed the warm weather and ALL the fabulous food we could eat. We also gained a few pounds from all that fabulous food! But it was worth it! :)
On the cruise, we also WON another cruise! Believe it or not people...we won it playing BINGO!! I love that game! Max had never played before and he rolled his eyes when I asked him if we could go play that afternoon. He wasn't rolling his eyes after we won though. He and I were both screaming like little girls as we ran up to the stage. Hilarious. What a blessing though.
But we made it back with a new suitcase, new shoes, and a few other souvenirs....and lots of memories. I will try to post some pictures as soon as I can.
Thanks again to all who made our wedding so special by being there. We will treasure that day in our hearts always! Be sure to check out our YouTube video of the dance if you haven't seen it already. Over 1,300 hits already...unbelievable!!

So, I am finally a married woman!! :)
And here I am on my honeymoon, stopping to post on the blog. You would think I would have better things to do! haha
Max and I thought we would surprise everyone at our wedding reception with choreographing our first dance to a mix CD that our friend D-Zack helped us create. Our videographer, Carole, already has the whole dance posted for your viewing pleasure on her website:
